SPICE TOUR

The history of Zanzibar would be incomplete without the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices which brought the Sultans of Oman and the beginnings of the infamous slave trade. They can be seen in the plantations just outside Zanzibar town, and a good tour includes opportunities to dazzle the senses with fresh spices. We have developed a special Spice Tour with indepth information not only about spices, but also herbs and a detailed description about their uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. We will show you the traditional natural herbal medicine plants and their uses, herbal creams and beauty products produced of his organically grown spices and herbs. After the tour we invite for an opulent lunch, where you can taste the spices and fruits you saw before. This is also the cheapest place to purchase spices and spice oils.

The half-day trip includes transport, guide, entrance fees and a superb lunch.

HISTORICAL CITY TOUR

This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People's Palace), Dr Livingston's House and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar's bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques!
Stone Town has some excellent gifts shops with plenty of souvenirs and handicrafts to choose from. A guided walk through this colorful and alternating city with tour guide Jumma,  who knows funny, but also cruel stories to tell about life of the old times in Stonetown.
The half daytrip includes the guide and all entrance fees except of Palace Museum. This Tour is good to combine with the Spice Tour.

PRISON ISLAND BOAT TRIP

Earning its name as a former prison for slaves and a quarantine station for Zanzibar and the mainland nowadays the island gives you the chance to escape for some peace and quiet. The island lies just off the Old Stone Town and is home to giant tortoises that were imported from the Seychelles in the late 19th century. It is fringed with a beautiful coral reef, ideal for snorkelling, and has a lovely white beach for sunbathing. The island is ideal for a day trip with refreshments available throughout the day. It also has a small restaurant where you can enjoy freshly caught fish.
The half-day or day trip includes the boat ride, entrance fees and snorkeling equipment.

LOCAL GAME FISHING

Forget fishing in a modern fishing vessel with the latest in reels and rods and a fighting chair as well! We offer you the unique opportunity to sail out to sea with a Zanzibari fisherman and show you what 'fishing for a living' is really all about. Setting sail from one of East Africa's oldest wafts, the horizon is dotted with dhow's heading out to sea with full mast. These elegant vessels have voyaged across the Indian Ocean for hundreds of years and whilst the crew are busy preparing fishing nets the timelessness of this tradition will carry you far from the modern world's pace. We will equippe you with simple fishing gear, with what locals are even catching kingfish, yellow fin tuna, barracuda and grouper. A real adventure!
The half-day or daytrip includes the boat ride, fishing guide, local fishing gear, fruits and softdrinks.

JOZANI FOREST TOUR

The Jozani Forest is the home of the red colobus monkey, a rare species found only in Zanzibar. These monkeys are full of character, and roam freely. But Jozani is also home to other species including Sykes monkey's, small buck, chameleon and bush pigs. The elusive Zanzibar leopard (last sited several years ago) is said to feed here at night - perhaps this is why the reserve is only open during the day?! Jozani has an excellent nature trail and the guides are well trained and informative. A walk through this impressive flora and fauna is one of the highlights Zanzibar has to offer.
The half-day trip includes the transport, entrance fee (8 US$) and the guide. It is easy to combine this trip with the Jambiani Village Tour or the Spice Tour
.

COMBINED MANGROVE AND SNORKELLING TOUR

we start this tour on a local fisherboat (ngalawa) in a lagoon north of Bwejuu, which offers fine snorkelling grounds on the reef. Later we will have a local lunch at a fishermen restaurant nearby.
In the afternoon we will visit the Chwaka Bay, a newly established National Reserve, famous for it's huge mangrove forest and it's population of endangered seabirds. On a boat trip through the mangroves you can sometimes see seaturtles.
The daytrip includes transport, guide, snorkelling equipment, lunch, boat ride.

DOLPHIN TOUR

Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. We are doing this trip in the afternoon, to avoid the crowds of tourists, which in big numbers desturbing the dolphins, and we are proud of this dolphin-friendly approach! Kizimkazi is also the site of a 12th century mosque, the earliest evidence of Islam in East Africa, and is thus worth a visit for both natural and cultural reasons.
The trip includes transport, guide, boat, snorkeling equipment and lunch.
